Description

Chris Cornell tribute with lyrics is the title of this figure portrait painting. The large drawing is my tribute to one of my favorite musicians, Chris Cornell. The original drawing's dimensions are (h x w) 36 × 25 in. (91.44 x 63.5 cm), and it was created on 300gsm (140lb), 100% cotton rag paper.

The opening paragraph from his Wikipedia page states the following information.
Chris Cornell (born Christopher John Boyle; July 20, 1964 – May 18, 2017) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. Cornell was also known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991, and as the founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his late friend Andrew Wood.

The recent sudden and tragic death of Chris Cornell pulled me out of an artistic dry spell and into an urgent want to draw him. Like many of his countless fans and other artists, I felt driven by feelings of remorse, shock, loss, remembrance, respect, gratitude and more to create something to honor him.

This realistic drawing painting depicts the image of him singing and playing guitar, surrounded by his lyrics from various songs. I wanted the drawing to be about more than just his physical presence. I approached it as an attempt to represent the gestalt of him: an organized whole that is more than the sum of its parts.
